A Romantic Getaway: Honolulu, the Capital of Hawaii
Oahu, the third largest island in the archipelago of Hawaii, boasts the title as the most popular tourist destination out of any of the other islands. Though Oahu has no shortage of beautiful landscape (Diamond Head mountain being one of many stunning sights), the reason for its popularity may be the capital city of Hawaii, the metropolitan city of Honolulu.
Though at first it doesn’t quite echo the idyllic vision most visitors imagine, Honolulu presents a multitude of opportunities for unique and memorable experiences. A thriving and face-paced city of around one million inhabitants, Honolulu has a variety of restaurants, accommodation and sights to suit the pickiest of travellers.
A romantic afternoon can be spent on one of the many sunny white sand beaches, the most popular being Waikiki Beach, a beautiful setting framed by the sea on one side and attractive five-star hotels on the other which has a great view of the island’s landmark, Diamond Head mountain. Alternative (and possibly quieter and less populated) beaches include Ala Moana Park and Hanauma Bay.
Sightseeing Places in Hawaii
The natural beauty of Hawaii can be found on any of the islands in different forms, though for a truly breathtaking vista visitors can take a trip to the north-western island of Kauai. Auspiciously named the “Garden Island”, Kauai is home to lush foliage, tropical plants, miles of beaches and some of the world’s most beautiful natural wonders, such as the Waimea Canyon and the Na Pali Coast.
The island is seemingly dedicated to the ‘wander off the beaten track’ ethos of travel, as the lack of roads circling the island encourages thorough exploration of the dozens of little and large sights to see. From luxurious white sand beaches and perfect waves for surfing, to a delicious meal served in one of the island’s quaint restaurants, Kauai literally has something for everyone.
Luxury Honeymoon: Accommodation in Hawaii
It’s understandable that the most luxurious hotels in Honolulu skim the edges of Waikiki Beach; the stunning view of the sheer white sand and endless pure blue sea – especially in sunset and sunrise – poses one of the most romantic sights available in all of Hawaii.
With a history of entertaining royalty, the Waikiki area has hotels for the most discerning tastes of couples. Of those hotels, the Ilikai, Marriot Waikiki and Halekulani remain favourites for couples seeking the most extravagant and luxurious of honeymoons.
